LEWIS TURKINGTON AND GSF CAR PARTS CONCLUDE 2026 FIESTA JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP EARLY, FOCUS TURNS TO FUTURE

Sunday 11th October 2026

  • GSF Car Parts Junior racing driver Lewis Turkington has confirmed that he will not contest the final round of the 2026 Fiesta Junior Championship.
  • The decision was made with close support from GSF Car Parts, prioritising Lewis’s development for 2027.
  • The decision was not an easy one based on Lewis’s breakthrough performance at Silverstone and his personal commitment to target his debut win in the series, however, focus will now shift to the future with exciting new challenges for Lewis over the course of the next two weeks.

FITTING MOMENT

It’s been a season of significant progress for teenage Lewis. Having started the year building his way through the field, he steadily developed into a front-running contender, culminating in a stunning podium finish at Silverstone in P2, a result that announced him as a serious contender with exciting prospects ahead. It represents a fitting and memorable high point on which to close out this season’s campaign.

Taking various factors into account, Lewis and his team felt this was the right moment to conclude the Fiesta Junior campaign and end on a high.

TWO-WEEK NEW BMW CHALLENGE

Lewis will now turn his attention to a new challenge, taking part firstly as an invited guest at the next 750 Motor Club event at Donington Park GP on October 18th in BMW machinery, along with his Dad 4 Times BTCC Champion Colin Turkington – BMW’s most successful racing car driver of all time.  The pair will compete together on Saturday in a 45-minute driver-share endurance race before lining up on the same grid the following day.  Both will share the grid on Sunday but steer separate BMW machinery across qualifying and two races. This marks an historic moment for the Turkington racing story and the switch to a rear-wheel-drive car for Lewis marks an exciting new chapter in his driver development.

6 HOUR ENDURANCE

Lewis will then take part in a 6-hour endurance race the following weekend 24th October at Silverstone GP circuit in his BMW, along with three teammates, in the Birkett 6 hour relay.  This will serve as further valuable experience for the young driver as he prepares for his 2027 season.

Lewis’s 2027 motorsport campaign is yet to be confirmed, but exciting conversations are already taking place behind the scenes.

“This has been a brilliant year for Lewis’s growth as a driver,” said 4 times BTCC Champion and British GT Racing Driver Colin Turkington. “Watching him progress throughout the year to a stunning podium at Silverstone has been fantastic to see, and it’s a great note to end the Fiesta Junior campaign on. We felt this was the right moment to prioritise his future plans and his development. He is ready for the next step and we felt it the right time to focus on the future. We’re excited for him to get behind the wheel of a rear-wheel-drive car at Donington and Silverstone because it’s exactly the kind of experience that will serve him well going forwards.”

DO YOURSELF PROUD TO CONTINUE ON

GSF Car Parts remains fully committed to supporting Lewis’s progression this year as he continues to build his career in motorsport and their Do Yourself Proud campaign will be clearly on display on the BMW race car throughout the next two events.  Images of which will be revealed later in the week!

Lewis would like to take this moment to thank his Fiesta Junior team 20 Ten Racing for all their support, guidance and passion throughout his time in the series.  He has made incredible progress during this period but also made great friends within the team and their support has been of huge importance to him.  Simon Hunt has been a loyal supporter of Lewis, and the Turkington family will always be grateful for this.

“My goal was always to try to get a race win, and we so nearly got there.  I momentarily held the lead in my final race at Silverstone and I am so proud of how hard I have worked to get where I am.  The thing for me is that my plan is centred around developing as a driver and building the layers of experience I need.  I have to keep focused on progressing, learning new things and building towards my overall career goals.  This means I am already mentally committed to maximising this experience over the next two weeks and am ready to take as much as I can from it.  Racing with my Dad has been a life long dream of mine, and to share this race on the Saturday and then the grid on Sunday is something special.  The Donington Park event is just a one-of invitational event for us, but the beginning of a new challenge for me as I depart the Fiesta Junior series.  Thank you to Neil McDonald at the BMW Car Club GB for all his efforts in making this happen for me.”
