Lewis Turkington: Rising Motorsport Talent
Hailing from Northern Ireland but now living in Buckinghamshire, England, 16-year-old Lewis Turkington has been immersed in motorsport from as early as 11 weeks old. His first taste of speed and control came at just 6 years old in a Bambino Kart, but due to family commitments – never raced… until now!
Growing up supporting his father, Colin Turkington, Lewis always harbored a strong desire to race himself exploiting every opportunity to learn what he could. From the outset, Lewis embraced all aspects of the sport, gaining hands-on experience in car setup, commercial responsibilities, and race team management.
Over the years, he has absorbed expertise from the team at West Surrey Racing and wider BTCC network, learning in one of the best environments in British motorsport. This education has fueled his commitment to pursuing his own career in the sport.
Lewis only began his motorsport journey behind the wheel in 2022 in British Autograss: a late starter but one with huge drive and motivation.
In 2023 and 2024, Lewis competed in the Junior category of the National Autograss Championships, demonstrating his rapid progression and natural talent. In both 2024 and 2025 Lewis qualified for the esteemed Junior National Championships final. In 2024, he was also selected as a finalist in the prestigious BRSCC Fiesta Junior Scholarship, an opportunity that has since seen him participate in three events of the 2025 BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship, gaining valuable experience against drivers with far more years behind the wheel. Lewis has a lot of catching up to do on his competitors but despite this, he is showing incredible work ethic, focus, and a relentless desire to improve.
Although petite in stature, Lewis possesses immense grit, determination, and focus. Committed to following in his father’s footsteps, he is building his own path in motorsport and establishing himself as one of the most promising young drivers in the UK.
HOBBIES
Lewis is a kind, compassionate and hard working pupil in his 6th form educational setting studying for his A levels. A gentle but driven spirit, Lewis aims to spread positivity in sport and inspire other young people to work hard, be disciplined and follow their dreams with his awareness campaign – DRIVING DYSLEXIA FORWARD. Lewis loves working out in the gym, working at cars with his Grandfather, food and eating, all animals and watching all sport.
