UPDATE ON LEWIS TURKINGTON FOLLOWING JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAM,PIONSHIPS
Milton Keynes, UK – September 3, 2025 – Following his incredible performance at the Junior National Championships at Evesham Autograss Club over the weekend of August 31 – September 1, 16-year-old racing driver Lewis Turkington has been diagnosed with a fracture to his left distal radius.
The injury was confirmed by Milton Keynes University Hospital on Monday, September 2, after medical assessment revealed that the bone had been broken during an on-track incident in the semi-final race. Despite the injury, Lewis went on to win the semi-final and later finish 4th overall out of 107 competitors in the national final — a display of remarkable courage and determination.
Following consultation with his medical team, Lewis has been advised to remain in a cast for four weeks after the bone has been realigned. As a result, he will sadly withdraw from the next round of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship, due to take place at Donington Park later this month.
Depending on his recovery progress, Lewis hopes to return to competition at Brands Hatch for the final round of the Championship on October 25–26.
Lewis shared his thoughts on the situation:
“I’m really disappointed to have to miss Donington, but I know this is the right thing to do to make sure my arm heals properly. I’m so proud of how the Junior Nationals went — it was one of the toughest weekends of my life, but also one I’ll never forget. I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel as soon as I can.”
Lewis and his team would like to thank everyone for their continued support, especially his sponsors, family, and fans who have sent messages of encouragement since the incident.
