LEWIS SUFFERS SNETTTERTON CAR TROUBLES
TEENAGE TURKINGTON CLOCKS UP THE LAPS DESPITE UNFORTUNATE MECHANICAL ISSUES
- Northern Irish Teenager Lewis Turkington took part in his first ever BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship over the weekend (5th and 6th April) at a sunny Snetterton in Norfolk.
- Completing a productive test schedule, the young Driving Dyslexia Forward driver was looking forward to his debut event, aiming for a top 10 finish as a weekend goal.
- Unfortunate and stubborn car woes left him a little bit at sea after practice sessions ended on Friday evening despite starting the day with his tail in the air.
- Sadly these continued throughout the weekend despite every effort by the Derby based 20 Ten Racing Team.
- Lewis kept his head up regardless of the challenges, and clocked up the laps at the back of the field learning what he could from the experience.
- Race 3 on Sunday afternoon never really started for the grid of youngsters after a red flag was thrown one third of the way around lap one. The race was then abandoned due to hazardous oil on the run up to the first corner.
- Lewis reported back with a 100% race car – a positive way to end the day but equally unfortunate that the race was cancelled.
- He will now sit out the next two events at Mallory and Anglesey due to his GCSE exams but return to the Junior grid when the series returns to Snetterton in mid July.
- The enthusiastic teenager will make as many outings as viable in his Autograss race car, to stay race sharp alongside his studies.
