LEWIS TURKINGTON’S RAPID RISE CONTINUES WITH BEST EVER FIESTA FINISHES AT BRANDS HATCH

17TH AUGUST 2026

GSF Junior Racing Driver Lewis Turkington produced his best-ever weekend in the Fiesta Junior Championship at Brands Hatch on 15–16 August, underlining his rapid progression with a series of impressive front-running performances and showcasing the race craft and determination that have become hallmarks of his development.

  • Turkington arrived at Brands Hatch determined to build on the progress he has made throughout the season and immediately demonstrated that he had the pace to compete at the sharp end of the highly competitive 30 car Fiesta Junior field.
  • Lewis qualified seventh, putting himself firmly in the mix for the weekend ahead. In Race 1, he battled his way into contention for fourth place and eventually crossed the line sixth.
  • Race 2 saw another significant step forward. Lewis was firmly involved in a battle for the podium and produced a clever, composed drive to finish fourth, narrowly missing out on what would have been his first Fiesta Junior podium.
  • The final race of the weekend provided the biggest test of Lewis’s race craft and determination.
  • Once again running towards the front, Lewis was involved in the fight for the leading positions when he suffered a huge hit at Druids, sending him back down the order. Rather than allowing the incident to end his race, Lewis regrouped and set about fighting his way back through the field.
  • His recovery drive saw him race forward to cross the finish line in fifth position. A post-race penalty for the driver responsible for the incident at Druids subsequently promoted Lewis to fourth.
  • While understandably disappointed that the contact had cost him the opportunity to fight for a maiden podium, Lewis was hugely encouraged by the weekend and, in particular, the significant step forward in his own performance.

HEAR FROM LEWIS

“It was my best weekend in the Fiesta Juniors so far and there are so many positives to take from it. Obviously, I’m disappointed about what happened at Druids because I was right there fighting for a podium and I genuinely believe I had the pace to be up there.

After the hit, I just had to put my head down and fight back. To recover from where we were and get back to fifth on the road was really satisfying, and then to be classified fourth after the penalty was the right decision.

The biggest positive for me is the step forward in performance. I’m showing that I can race at the front and fight for the big positions, and that’s exactly where I want to be.

I’m working incredibly hard behind the scenes to achieve that first podium and I’m not going to stop until I do.”

20TEN RACING AT THE TOP

The weekend was also a major success for the entire 20 Ten Racing team. The car was prepared brilliantly throughout the event, providing Lewis with the performance and reliability needed to compete consistently at the front of the field.  Because of these results, the Team are now leading the Fiesta Junior Teams’ Championship.

For Lewis, the Brands Hatch weekend represents another important milestone in a motorsport career that began relatively late compared with many of his rivals. His ability to rapidly develop his pace, race craft and confidence has seen him move increasingly closer to the sharp end of the championship.

With two fourth-place finishes, a sixth and the clear pace to fight for podium positions, Lewis leaves Brands Hatch more determined than ever to take the final step.

The first Fiesta Junior podium may have eluded him this time, but with his progression continuing at such a rapid rate, Turkington is making it increasingly clear that it is only a matter of time.
