LEWIS TURKINGTON MAKES STUNNING KARTING DEBUT WITH TOP ROOKIE HONOURS AT WHILTON  MILL

14th March 2026
  • Rising talent Lewis Turkington enjoyed a dream start to his competitive karting career yesterday, securing the ‘Top Rookie’ trophy during the opening round of the Club 100 Junior Super Lightweight Championship.
  • Taking to the demanding Whilton Mill circuit for the season opener, Turkington faced a steep learning curve in one of the UK’s most competitive arrive-and-drive championships.
  • Despite the high-pressure environment of his first-ever race meeting, Lewis displayed remarkable composure and pace throughout the day’s heats.
  • The weekend culminated in Turkington being crowned the highest-placed debutant, a result that signals bright prospects for the youngster as he begins his 2026 motorsport journey.
Reflecting on his debut, Lewis Turkington said:
“Thrilled to share that I made my karting debut at the weekend in the Club 100 Junior Super Lightweight Championship!
Round 1 at Whilton Mill was an incredible experience, and I’m delighted to have come away with the Top Rookie prize.
It was a brilliant day of racing and a huge drop into a new environment for me, but I’m really proud of the progress made and the result. A huge thanks to everyone who supported me in getting to the grid.”

With the opening nerves settled and silverware already in the trophy cabinet, the focus now shifts to Round 2. Lewis will be looking to build on this momentum when the championship heads to the historic Shenington circuit in May.  Before this, he will of course be taking his place on the 2026 Fiesta Junior Championship grid at Snetterton on April 18 and 19.
