TEENAGE TURKINGTON MAKES BMW DEBUT ON TRACK ALONGSIDE DAD

19th October 2026

  • Lewis Turkington enjoyed a landmark weekend at Donington Park, sharing the circuit with his dad, four-time British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) champion Colin Turkington, for the first time as fellow competitors.
  • The teenage Driving Dyslexia Forward Ambassador lined up in the BMW 325ti at the BMW Car Club Racing GB meeting, marking another important step in his developing racing career as he continues to build on the family’s motorsport legacy and develop his skills behind the wheel.
  • Inspired by Colin’s success on the track, Lewis began his own racing journey on grass ovals before progressing into junior circuit racing.
  • This weekend’s event was a particularly special milestone, giving father and son the opportunity to compete against one another on the same circuit, albeit in different classes where both picked up silverware.

Strong Performance in Challenging Conditions

Lewis made an impressive start to the weekend, finishing third in class in the opening race despite challenging changeable weather conditions.

As the circuit transitioned from dry to wet, Lewis showed excellent pace and racecraft, working his way from third position to take the class lead. With conditions changing once again towards the end of the race, the circuit began to dry out, and Lewis lost the lead on the final lap, ultimately crossing the line in a well-earned third place.

It was a strong result in a new car and under unfamiliar regulations, providing valuable experience as he continues to develop as a racing driver.

The result followed another impressive performance at Silverstone last month, where Lewis secured a superb second-place finish, underlining his potential and providing a positive end to his 2026 season.

Next Stop: Silverstone for the Birkett Six-Hour Race

Lewis will return to action this coming weekend at Silverstone for the Birkett Six-Hour Relay Race, taking on his first endurance racing challenge.

Competing as part of a three-driver team in a BMW 325ti, Lewis is set to complete two hours of the six-hour event. The race will provide valuable experience and an opportunity to further prepare for the 2027 season.

Continuing to Build for the Future

Throughout the 2026 season, Lewis has been supported by GSF Car Parts, carrying its distinctive Do Yourself Proud branding on his car. Their continued backing has played an important part in his racing journey as he works towards his long-term ambitions in motorsport.

Reflecting on the weekend, Lewis said:

“I was fully focused on making the most of this opportunity, and it was a fantastic experience. Racing and sharing the grid with my dad this weekend was something special.

“The Donington Park event was a one-off for us, and the format has helped me prepare for what’s to come next year. Thank you to GSF for their continued support. I’ll keep pushing hard to make myself, the team and my sponsors proud.”

With a strong finish to the season and his first endurance race just around the corner, Lewis will be looking to carry this momentum into his preparations for 2027.
